Accept no substitutes!ugly@i23.com writes: I'm just wondering - was the idea for the site all your own, or did you, er, borrow it? Well, in case the line that reads "Inspired by The Misanthropic Bitch " didn't give you a clue ... This site was inspired by The Misantrhopic Bitch, a mighty cool site that was on GeoCities until those rat bastards shut her down for gratuitous use of the word "f*ck." A group of Web designers had discovered her "ugly" page and, since we were experiencing a lull in the "clients" department, started bombarding her with nominations. When the site "disappeared" a few weeks later, we got the phine pholks at phunhaus to put up some space for her "You Sure Are Ugly" material - but Carlene (TMB by any other name) was kinda absorbed with other matters and we "went with it," taking it to strange, new places. Hope you were taking notes - there's gonna be a quiz. It's just that our page has been doing it for two years Funny, your ISP has a note on their home page welcoming you as the "newest addition" to their server. Unless they haven't signed a client in two years, you're pretty green - and not a very good liar. I mean, I thought we were the first and finest .... Funny what happens when people try to think, isn't it? Anyway, we're not much into competition, so you can go around telling people that you're the first and finest. Maybe we could, er, amalgamate or something. Are you offering to chip in half our legal fees? Wonderful! That'll be $1750.00 and $150.00 per month for the retainer. On the other hand, if you're looking to add a half-dozen photographs with a few paragraphs of uninspired (and evidently un-spell-checked) prose to the collection so you can claim credit, I think all the folks who put in a fair amount of effort might not like that idea very much. Thanks anyway. I mean, we're really famous these days - in the newspaper and everything... I simply must renew my subscription to The Hooterville Times. it'd be nice just to get a "hello" from out partners in the anti-ugly crusade. Well howdy, "partner" ... ... but we're not "anti-ugly" at all. We truly believe that everyone is beautiful in their own way like a starry summer night - it's just that we can't see it sometimes, and are hoping some kind-hearted soul will explain things to us. | ||
